Ability to buy “points” to lower your mortgage rate. Rapid wireframing for proof of concept and CEO acceptance.

Our goal was to give our members the ability to buy mortgage points for a one-time cost to lower their interest at mortgage product selection in the application flow.

Marketing approached my Product Manager on mortgage and myself to create a new product select interaction pattern to help our members understand what “buying down their rate” meant. We had two weeks to research and create the optimal user experience, while working with engineering within our current abilities.

Audience

Our intended users are new and existing SoFi members who have been pre-qualified for a set of mortgage loan offers.

 

Many iterations

My Role

Lead designer. I worked with our Mortgage, Underwriting and UI engineering teams to create a new product selection pattern that would able to be shipped in under a month.

Constraints

My main constraints were working within current engineering limitations, and within the current page container.

In Conclusion

After a tight two week turnaround, we landed on the best MVP and handed off to engineering.
